Rediscovering Legacy: The Buccellati Earrings Reborn

It started with a simple goal: to make a vintage pair of Buccellati clip-on earrings more wearable by adding posts for pierced ears.
But stepping into the Buccellati boutique that day became something more—a rediscovery. A story about Italian gold, the quiet dignity of textured craftsmanship, and a family name that shaped an entire aesthetic legacy.
These earrings were confirmed to be a creation from the early 1980s, a period marked by Gianmaria Buccellati’s artistic leadership. Made in Como, Italy, their elegant herringbone-like texture was inspired by textiles, brought to life using the house’s distinctive rigato engraving—a hand-etched finish that gives gold the softness of silk. This very pattern would go on to inspire the now-iconic Macri collection.
But what makes this pair even more special is the moment of renewal. During the service, Buccellati’s artisans added posts to convert the earrings from clip-on to pierced, honoring their past while gently adapting them for a new era. They were also polished, authenticated, and returned with a Buccellati service pouch, documentation, and receipt.
It was then we discovered the signature inside: Gianmaria Buccellati Italy 18k—marking these as part of a chapter in which Buccellati's legacy was reimagined by a son carrying his father’s vision forward.

They are rare. They are beautiful. And now, they're ready for their next story.
